HOWARD ROARK DESIGN is an RIBA Chartered Practice dedicated to design excellence and professional service delivery. The firm offers a range of architectural services across various sectors. As a Chartered Practice, the company operates appropriate Employment, Environmental Management, Health and Safety and Quality Management policies. The practice employs a range of computer based technologies alongside traditional methods of design, such as hand-drawing and model-making. A structured Continuing Professional Development framework ensures that the practice maintains and develops competence in relevant areas.

Lawrence

HOWARD ROARK DESIGN was established by Director and Principal, Lawrence McCleery. Lawrence received his Degree and Masters in Architecture from The University of Sheffield. Among others during his professional career, Lawrence has worked for Des Ewing and HLM Architects. Lawrence has also been the recipient of numerous accolades for art. These have included a prestigious Royal Ulster Academy award for ‘Best Work as Voted by the Public’, of which he was the youngest winner in the academy’s history. Lawrence has had his work exhibited at the Ulster Museum, in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall and elsewhere.

Howard Roark

HOWARD ROARK DESIGN derives its name from well-known fictional architect Howard Roark, an aspiring young individualist who emerged as the central character in Ayn Rand’s 1943 novel The Fountainhead. The book has been translated into several languages and sold more than 5 million copies. In 1949 a Hollywood production starring Gary Cooper, introduced Howard Roark to the silver screen. A Bollywood adaptation of the story is now scheduled for release. Director Oliver Stone is also reportedly keen to create a new film of The Fountainhead.
